AIS Tracking
Vessel search & AIS positions
Broker-focused vessel intelligence with freshness, source and coverage context, not a guaranteed live position record.
Tracking methodology & coverage
Data source
Tracking is powered by VesselAPI for scoped commercial AIS coverage. Update frequency, available fields and freshness depend on VesselAPI plan limits and configured bounding boxes. When VesselAPI is not configured, the platform labels vessel positions as indicative coverage.
Coverage limitations
AIS coverage is strongest near major ports, coastal areas and high-traffic sea lanes. Coverage thins in open-ocean passages, polar regions and areas with sparse terrestrial receiver networks. Position data should not be used as the sole source of a vessel location decision.
Broker focus
Commercial filters suppress fishing vessels, pleasure craft, tugs and other non-commercial traffic so the map stays relevant for freight, sale and capacity workflows. Enriched fields such as DWT, GT, draft and built year appear when the provider or listing database can supply them.
Missing-data runbook
If a vessel or port-call history is absent, first check configured VesselAPI boxes, AIS silence, IMO/MMSI consistency and provider plan limits. The interface now treats missing data as an explainable operational state, not as a broken workflow.
