Data source

Tracking is powered by configured AIS providers such as AISStream. Provider coverage, update frequency, and available fields vary by configuration and region. When no API key is configured, the platform displays simulated vessel positions for demonstration purposes only — clearly labelled in the status bar above.

Coverage limitations

AIS coverage is strongest near major ports, coastal areas, and high-traffic sea lanes. Coverage thins in open-ocean passages, polar regions, and areas with sparse terrestrial receiver networks. Vessels are not required to transmit AIS at all times — some operators disable transponders in certain zones. Position data should not be relied upon as the sole source of a vessel's whereabouts.

Broker focus

The “Commercial vessels only” filter suppresses fishing vessels, pleasure craft, tugs, and other non-commercial traffic to keep the map relevant for freight and sale workflows. All vessel-type and capacity filters are applied server-side against enriched data cross-referenced with our listings database where available. DWT, GT, draft, and built-year fields may not be available for all vessels.
